Nuno Ramos was born in 1960, in São Paulo, where he lives and works. Graduated in philosophy from the University of São Paulo, he is a painter, draftsman, sculptor, writer, filmmaker, set designer and composer. He began painting in 1984, when he became part of the group of artists at the Casa 7 studio. Since then, he has exhibited regularly in Brazil and abroad. He participated in the 1995 Venice Biennale, where he was the representative artist of the Brazilian pavilion, and in the São Paulo International Biennials in 1985, 1989, 1994 and 2010. In 2006, he received, for his work as a whole, the Grant Award from Barnett and Annalee Newman Foundation.
Nuno Ramos also worked on outdoor works in which the natural element – the sea, the rock, the soil, the weather – was an integral part of the work. As a writer, he published The Bad Glazier (2010), Oh (2008), Dress rehearsal (2007), The Crow's Bread (2001) e Cujo (1993).
As a filmmaker, with Clima, in 2002, he directed the short films Black light (For Nelson 1) e Two hours (For Nelson 1) . In 2004, she directed the short Alvorada. He co-directed the short film with Clima and Gustavo Moura Helmet, also in 2004, and Light up the landsIn 2006.
