The set of photographs from the Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo (MAM-SP) comprises a relevant period in the recent history of Brazilian photography. From authors of modernist photography from the 1940s to contemporary production, MAM incorporated, through different media, different languages, supports and artists, images that are witnesses of the main moments of Brazilian photography. The objective of the course is to present some characteristics of these works, and recognize the potential of the MAM collection based on thematic and historical highlights.
With the support of exhibition catalogues, texts and books, classes present a timeline with the main events, authors and works responsible for the development of photography within the context of Brazilian art. In addition to historical knowledge, students will be able to recognize the diversity of visualities of the works present in the collection. The target audience is researchers and those interested in contemporary art and photography.
