What images come to mind when you think of Latin America? If we deepen this reflection, can we evoke visual scenarios linked to artists, exhibitions and works of art from the region? This course proposes to explore these questions, with the aim of analyzing and presenting the different visual narratives of territories geopolitically identified as Latin.

In this introductory course, we will focus on visual narratives produced in South America, the Caribbean and Mexico, covering mainly the period from the 18th to the 21st century. We will explore interdisciplinary dialogues, using a variety of media such as academic readings and audiovisual materials created by scholars, activists, thinkers and artists. The proposal is to offer multiple perspectives on Latin America, enriching visual understanding and promoting a look beyond common sense.

The target audience for this course is students, professionals in the Humanities and anyone interested in interdisciplinary debates, especially those related to Visual Arts, Social Sciences, History, Geography and the like.
