The course proposes a journey of deceleration and discovery through drawing, in Ibirapuera Park. Amidst the fast pace of big cities, the park presents itself as a territory of other temporalities. The proposal invites the exploration of different observation and recording strategies, valuing, beyond the efficiency of objectivist thinking, the possibilities of drift and deviations from exacerbated productivity.

The name of the course refers to the afterword written by Helena Obersteiner for the work Journey to the center of the Earth, by Jules Verne. Based on his reflections, we will work with drawing as a means of investigation and imagination — both of the physical space and of the layers of sensitive meaning for each participant.

The first 10 people enrolled in the course will receive a copy of the book Journey to the center of the Earth, by Jules Verne (Editora Antofágica).

Helena Obersteiner

(São Paulo, SP, 1993)

He is a visual artist and uses drawing as his research. Through the practice of observation, she interacts, in an empirical way, with materials and machines that affect and construct surfaces. In her works, she interacts with fabric, plaster, latex and paper, as well as tattoo machines, sewing and tapestry. In 2019, she created the Feios Drawings course, held in partnership with Espaço.CC, which included more than ten classes, including online and in-person formats. Over the years, she has held several classes and lectures at partner institutions, such as IED-SP, EBAC, Faculdade Santa Marcelina, among others. Currently, she also holds regular courses in her studio.
