One of the determining factors in the development and dissemination of Modern Art was the emergence of museums dedicated to it. From the pioneering MoMA, which served as a reference for the creation of the MAM, to the Tate, the Pompidou and the Orsay, these new spaces not only consolidated innovative artistic movements, but also promoted a new understanding of the function and role of art in society.
The course offered by MAM proposes an immersion in this historical context, addressing the main milestones, trends and artists that shaped the panorama of Modern Art, with an emphasis on the relationship between art and museums as institutions. Aimed at students, professionals in the arts and culture, as well as those interested in expanding their knowledge of art history, the course seeks to offer a critical and reflective view of aesthetic and conceptual evolution in the 20th and 21st centuries, inviting participants to explore how modern art challenges conventions and promotes a constant dialogue between past, present and future.
