This course offers in-depth insights into certain legal topics that are fundamental to the cultural sector, such as copyright and personality rights. During the meetings, participants will learn through everyday cases, court decisions, practical workshops and reading tips. The objective is to enable professionals and other interested parties to deal with complex legal issues related to culture and art.

Meeting 03 | Legal issues at exhibitions

The teacher and the guest will deal with practical aspects of the legal concepts presented in the first two classes based on a fictitious case of a visual arts exhibition, addressing issues such as:
- What are the differences between author, holder and owner/collector?
- Which contracts are most needed?
- How to deal with creative service providers? – curators, photographers, translators, designers, etc.
- How does loaning works to cultural institutions and collectors work?
- How to obtain copyright clearances? – artist, heirs, AUTVIS, collectives, inventories.
- How to deal with indigenous art?
- How to do the indicative classification?
- How do I know if I need to obtain authorization to use visitors' images?

Meeting 04 | Doubts workshop
Participation by Mei Lian Jou (BSA Advogados – serving the Tomie Ohtake Institute) and Mariana Luvizutti (MASP)
The guests are lawyers working in the cultural and museum sector and will tell the class a little about their experience and interesting situations experienced in the profession. From this dialogue, there will be resolution of doubts, discussion of cases and additional content according to the needs presented by the class, in a form circulated throughout the course.
