The course aims to present the process of developing exhibitions in art museums and the challenges of the pre-production, production and post-production stages.
From the curatorial project to the experience of visiting art exhibitions, course participants will discover the step-by-step process of artistic and executive production. Classes will be expository with content in digital format, reading recommendations and time reserved for case studies and exchange of experiences.
Agenda
Class 01 – Introduction to art museums and the diversity of exhibitions
- Presentation of the course content, teacher and participants
- Bibliography indication
- Introduction: art museums and long-, medium- and short-term exhibitions
- Curatorial and expographic project
- The producer of artistic and cultural projects: area of activity focusing on art exhibitions in museums
Class 02 – When does artistic and executive production begin and end?
- The producer's relationships with professionals, teams and institutions: curators, architects, artists, collectors, designers, museologists, educators, among others
- From project preparation to completion: pre-production, executive production and post-production
Class 03 – Pre-production
- Research monitoring, content production and creation of a list of works
- Documentation of temporary loan of works of art, commissioned works, database and its challenges
- Exhibition cover letter, invitation letter, request for loans and insurance of works of art
- Documentation relating to exhibition spaces and conditions for displaying works of art (Facility Report)
Class 04 – Executive production
- Preparation of budgets, schedules, disbursement flows
- Processes for taking prices/quotes, hiring service providers, purchasing materials, equipment and/or leasing
- Transport logistics, packaging of works of art, insurance and museum monitoring and state of conservation reports of the works
Class 05 – Executive production | Interface with teams
- Interface with the teams responsible for the conception and execution of exhibition, lighting, visual identity, graphic design, communication and publications projects
- Assembly, disassembly and maintenance of exhibitions
- Interface with educational project teams, accessibility, public guidance, security and other services
Class 06 – Post-production
- Opinion surveys and evaluation processes for the executed project
- Accountability during and at the end of the project
- Preparation of partial and final reports
- Evaluation of the course with participants
