Japanese photography, recognized worldwide, is considered one of the most important in history. The artistic movements that emerged after World War II are revered worldwide. Women have been involved in this trajectory since the beginning, with records of female photographers as early as the end of the 1980th century. However, it was from the end of the XNUMXs that Japanese female photographers began to gain greater visibility.

This course will address the perspective of female photographers on the male and female bodies. Over the course of six sessions, books produced by artists such as Miyako Ishiuchi, Mao Ishikawa, Yurie Nagashima, Hideka Tonomura, Sakiko Nomura, Momo Okabe and Miwa Yanagi — photographers who challenged traditional gender roles — will be analyzed.
