How can we think of writing as a starting point without a specific destination? This course will present references from the visual arts and literature, along with exercises to explore different possibilities of writing. A return to “analog” writing, exploring its materiality alongside the movement of the body through Ibirapuera Park, around the Museum of Modern Art in São Paulo.

Class 01 – How to write?

  • Return to “analog” writing (or, writing by hand)
  • How do I write? What material and support do I use? What others can I use?
  • Exercises for experimenting with materials and surfaces

Class 02 – What to write?

  • Straying from the blank page
  • Writing exercises with unusual topics
  • In search of the infraordinary (as opposed to the extraordinary)

Class 03 – Where to write?

  • Body and materiality of writing
  • Exploring different observation points
  • Exercises to experiment with body position while writing

Class 04 – The time of writing

  • Temporality of writing
  • Writing exercises at different times and speeds
  • Observation of text production throughout the meetings and closing
