O mam debate is an initiative that, through seminars and publications, seeks to promote reflections, research and debates around issues involving modern and contemporary art and also others directly related to MAM São Paulo, its past and its activities in the present. It is a prospecting platform for possible actions by the museum in the future based on historical and emerging issues.

In a society increasingly stimulated by various forms of personalization, what are the challenges for museums and art institutions in effectively engaging with their audiences? Programming strategies are often designed to generate identification and representation by taking into account society's demands, but they do not always result in the appreciation and recognition of museum institutions by the general public.
The São Paulo Museum of Modern Art is turning 75 years old. We scheduled a seminar to discuss the constitution and operations of modern art museums in Brazil. To broaden the debate and observe together the differences and similarities between museums that deal with modern narrative, we invited representatives from MAM in Rio de Janeiro, MAM in Bahia and MAMAM in Recife, and other important guests. Thus, we intend to reflect on the unique situations of its collections and exhibition programs, in addition to exploring its origins, proposals and actions – curatorial and educational.
Imbued in the milestone of 30 years of the MAM São Paulo Sculpture Garden, the seminar mam debate 2022 invited scholars and artists to consider the unique situation of these works of art in the most visited urban public park in the country. In addition to commemorating the time frame, it was necessary to reflect on the museological conditions of the garden, that is, the architectural and historical situation, as well as artistic enjoyment outside the museum walls, and on the artistic creation reflected in this public and urban relationship .
